Debby Boehm earned her B.S. in Animal Behavior from The Ohio State University, specializing in motivation and learning theory. She has an academic background in Human–Canine Social Interaction and Canine Cognition research, and her work as a Certified Veterinary Technician adds years of hands-on experience working with small and large animals.

Debby is an approved AKC Judge for all Rally classes and all Non-Regular Obedience classes, Fetch, ATT and Farm Dog and is an AKC Evaluator for CGC, FIT Dog, and Trick Dog programs. She is CPDT-KA certified.

Her accomplishments in dog sports include exhibiting in Conformation, Obedience, Rally, Scent Work, and Herding, earning numerous titles across these venues. Debby has earned 62 Obedience titles (including eight UD’s), multiple High in Trial awards on multiple dogs, over 34 Rally titles (including four RM’s), and more than 38 Conformation championships. Her dogs have achieved multiple National Specialty BOB and BOS awards, Group wins, and an Owner-Handled Best in Show. She has also worked as an animal wrangler and on-set trainer for print and film.

Debby founded Precision Canine in 1983. Since then, the program has provided classes in STAR Puppy, CGC, Tricks, Competition Obedience, Rally, Scent Work and FIT dog, and she has delivered numerous competition seminars. Debby is honored to support the growth, success, and teamwork of dog-handler teams through her clear, effective, “Tricked-Out Training” methods.

Debby shares her world with 5 Tervuren, Shrek, Quidditch, Nyx, Cranberry and Mud.

With over 20 years of experience as a certified veterinary technician, including emergency medicine, shelter care, and work with large animals and exotics, Amber Mercier brings deep medical knowledge and practical training expertise to Precision Canine. She is a CPDT-KA certified trainer, an AKC-approved evaluator for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Trick Dog certifications, and a licensed AKC Rally Judge. Amber actively trains and competes in AKC rally, obedience, scentwork, conformation, and herding.

Amber has earned numerous titles and awards with her own dogs across multiple venues. She achieved a Rally Championship with her Novice A dog, Gilly, and has competed at the AKC Rally National Championships over several years, earning a 5th place finish in the Master class. She and her dogs have also earned multiple High in Trial and High Combined awards, group placements, specialty wins, and a Best in Show. Her commitment to thoughtful, effective training is reflected in both her personal accomplishments and the success of her students.

In 2025, after recognizing the need for ethical, effective support for owner-trained service dog teams, Amber founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Vested In You Assistance Dogs. The organization is dedicated to helping handlers train their own service dogs through education, mentorship, and structured guidance.

Amber joined Debby Boehm and Precision Canine in 2020 and continues to help teams achieve their goals in both competition and everyday life. She currently shares her home with two Border Collies, Gilly and Jarvis, and three Belgian Tervuren, Jinx, Data, and Zesty.
